Fight one: a pro debut that was bigger than boxing

November 8, 2026

Benefiz Boxen poster for the pro debut of John ‘The Dog’ Dagrin, 25 October 2025, Wiesbaden

Most fighters debut for themselves. John W. Dagrin debuted on a night built for other people.

Benefiz Boxen took over the sports hall at Platz der Deutschen Einheit in Wiesbaden on 25 October 2025, raising money for the Bärenherz children’s hospice foundation and for former professional boxer Dündar Yildiz. John’s name was on the poster with one word under it: Pro-Debüt.

Across the ring stood Mirko Sikora, a veteran with more than 30 professional fights. That is not an easy first night. Men with that many rounds know every trick there is, and they know how to make a debutant look ordinary.

John did not look ordinary. The referee stepped in at 1:37 of round three.

What it started

A U.S. Army veteran, husband, father and founder had become a professional boxer at home in Wiesbaden, on a night when the money went where it was needed. It is hard to think of a better way to begin.

Record: 1–0, 1 stoppage.
